Thought of the Day 5-18-16

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. (John 13:34 NKJV)

I came to a reality that, what I do for people I do for Jesus. I was beginning to see how powerful the truth of God living in the people of faith really was! When I treated them with love, I was treating Him with love. And when I treated them carelessly and with indifference, I was treating Him carelessly and indifference. This was becoming a clear reality to me as I was seeing the significance of Jesus Commandment, “to love one another as He had loved us.”

The sobering prophetic words that Jesus had given His disciples were impacting me with a weight I had never experienced before.

And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’ Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ (Matthew 25:40, 45 NKJV)

Two amazing truths were becoming clear to me: (1) unless I loved my brothers and sisters, I could not love God, and (2) when I loved my brothers and sisters, I could not help but love God too!

But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, (Matthew 5:44 NKJV)

Good loves to give you gifts. The gifts that God most likes to give is His grace to you. When you least expect it and when you know for sure that you are not worthy, God loves to,forgive and bless you. You should see the look on your face when you receive His grace. Your reaction is a joy for me.

God wants you to do likewise to those around you. In fact, that is one thing that God requires of you. God wants you to forgive others as He has forgiven you. The next time someone does something mean to you, don’t respond in kindness. Rather, go out of your way to astound him with something they don’t deserve: Grace. Grace that greater than all our sin.

But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. (Matthew 6:15 NKJV)
