Thought of the Day 4-26-16

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. (John 13:34 NKJV)

There is probably no topic which has captivated people throughout the centuries and from most every culture than the topic of love. We put a man on the moon, broke the speed of sound and mapped the human genome, but love remains a complete mystery. Mathematician cannot predict it. Poets still wrestle with adequate words to describe it. It may have been more than two centuries ago, but Plato’s words have never been more true. “Every heart sings a song, incomplete.” We are all looking for love. At any given moment, we may be far from it, but we never stop hoping the next opportunity is just over the horizon. We are all looking for true love.

True love requires you to reveal your true self to another. The famous author, C. S. Lewis, puts it best, ” To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one. Lewis is right. What makes love so hard, and sometimes painful, it is the vulnerability that always seem to accompany it. Unfortunately, vulnerability leaves our defenses down and often we get hurt. Jesus loves unconditionally and when we experience His true love, we can love other people with His love.

Thought of the Day

Be at peace among yourselves. (I Thessalonians 5:13 NKJV)

As the pressure and pace of life increase, people become more tense and grim. Many people, in many spheres of life, become more and more aware of the demands of our day and age. The more modern technology is geared to meet these demands, the more hectic the treadmill of life becomes.

Inevitably this tension causes people to snap. Obvious signs are irritation, moodiness, petty jealousy, and eventually the basis of our Christian Faith; is destroyed. Of course Satan rejoices in this because anything which makes it possible for you to love your fellow man will make it impossible for you to love God (1John 4:20).

In order for us to handle the extreme demands of modern life without losing our spiritual stability, an intimate spiritual fellowship with God is essential. Open up your heart, mind and soul to the influence of the Holy Spirit so that He may control your life and your emotions. You will find that, in His power, you are able to handle the pressure without giving in to your human weaknesses. The Holy Spirit will fill your life with the peace of Jesus Christ.

In turn you will be able to let this peace flow through to others because you are a channel God’s love and peace. This is the only way in which the storm of tension and hurry-scurry can be calmed.

Thought of the day 4-13-16

And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen. (Romans 16:20 NKJV)

When circumstances clamp down on your life and you are upset and despondent, it is easy,to begin to doubt. It often seems as if one setback leads to the next and you start to wonder if you will ever be able to move through the dark tunnel of depression. That is the time when you are most vulnerable and an easy prey to Satan. He is always ready and willing to lead you away from God onto the road of despair.

It is generally accepted that you must at all times keep your quiet times with God faithfully. In doing so you will strengthen your relationship with God. This is especially valid when your faith is being tested.

When everything goes well with you it is fairly easy to maintain an intimate relationship with the Lord. However, when life’s problem hit you, the tendency develops to drift away from the Lord. And that is fatal.

Whatever your circumstances might be, always remember that God loves you with an unfathomable love, a love that cannot be measured and which is perfect. He truly cares for you and invites you to turn to Him with all of life’s burdens.

Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. (I Peter 5:7 NKJV)

If you would only cling to Him, believing His promise that He will always be with you, then He will fill your life with His heavenly peace, and Satan will be defeated time and time again in your life.

Thought of the day 4-5-16

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. (Romans 12:1, 2 NKJV)

How do we find the good, acceptable, and perfect will of God in your life? The Holy Spirit expresses the mind of Christ for you on a very personal level, helping you find and walk in the absolute perfect will of God for your life.

But these are the ones sown on good ground, those who hear the word, accept it, and bear fruit: some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred.” (Mark 4:20 NKJV)

Many people spend their entire lives in the “thirtyfold” stage, because they don’t know how to release the power of the Holy Spirit inside them. By offering your body as a living sacrifice, you will go,throughout a process that causes you to no longer be conformed to this world. The power of your reborn Spirit as it is edified and built up by the Holy Spirit.

Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. (Romans 8:26 NKJV)

Likewise means “In this matter.” This is how the Holy Spirit helps our infirmities. Infirmities refers to our inability to produce results, because of our limitations imposed on us by our flesh. I have found out that to allow the Holy Spirit to work God’s plan in our life as I pray much in the Holy Ghost.

You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. (I John 4:4 NKJV)
